Website Design and Development for Expertise-Driven Organizations

Our team has been designing and developing websites for decades, and we were doing powerful things in WordPress back when we had to fight the perception that it was just a blogging platform. Whether it is a one-page website or an enterprise site with complex integrations, security standards, and functionality, we can own the project from discovery through launch, take on key steps in partnership with your team or another agency, or step in on a site we didn’t build.

Let’s Talk
Ways to work with us

You can start with a new site or with the one you already have.

Whether you’re working with us across strategy, search, and web, or just need us for your website, we’ve got you covered.
A full build

From a one-page site to an enterprise build with complex integrations and thousands of pages to migrate, we can own the project from discovery and documentation through design, development, testing, and launch.

A modernized platform

When your site still looks and works the way you want but is hard to edit, slow, or outdated behind the scenes, we can rebuild the platform without turning the project into a redesign.

A site we didn’t build

We step in to fix what’s broken, take over updates and maintenance, make incremental improvements, or develop a design your team or partner created.

Ongoing care and hosting

Most clients stay with us long after launch, and we host their sites, keep them updated, and keep improving them.

How we build

Our process owns web projects from start to finish.

We start with discovery, move into documentation, with sitemaps, content planning, and low-fidelity wireframes, then design the key interfaces, develop the site, and launch it after a thorough QA and testing process. We love working through the full process with clients, and we can also work as an integrated part of a larger team with your consultants and agencies.
Discovery & Documentation

Before we move pixels or write a line of code, we align on project goals, requirements, and the people the site needs to serve, then map it out with sitemaps, content planning, and low-fidelity wireframes. Neither of us likes surprises, and this phase paves the way for the rest of the project.

Design

Too many websites look the same. Clients often challenge us to create designs that stand out in their industry while staying easy to navigate, and we don’t pass off off-the-shelf templates as unique web designs.

Development

Our development team brings designs and requirements to life, with pixel-perfect development, mobile optimization, accessibility built in, and SEO page experience baselines, all tested before launch.

Hosting

We host the sites we build and manage with a premium managed WordPress host on our agency account, and our team handles the updates and maintenance that help keep them running well.

Form and function

A website should be built to be found and to convert.

Your website should help qualify leads and support your sales team, and getting both the creative design and the technology right is what lets it stand out and move your audiences toward your goals. We build search-integrated websites, with mobile, accessibility, speed, and SEO in mind from the start, because if a great website launches and no one can find it, it won’t make a dollar.

Complex builds

Our team takes on the web projects that are hard to get right.

Many of our projects come with a challenge a template can’t solve. Here are a few we’ve worked through recently.
Merging acquired brands

When a company grows through acquisitions, we can bring each brand’s website into one site and one brand, including e-commerce, a product configurator, and product submittals that generate automatically.

Large content migrations

We’ve moved thousands of posts, project pages, and people profiles into a cleaner structure, with an SEO migration process to help protect the search visibility they’ve earned.

Sites that support sales

Some sites need to do more than share content, so we build them to help qualify leads and support the sales team, with integrations for CRM, sales intelligence, and payment tools.

Approval workflows

Teams in compliance-minded industries often need content reviewed before it publishes, so we set up approval workflows and staging environments that fit how they work.

Sister companies

When a parent company has several brands, we can design once and adapt that work for each sister company, so every new site starts further along.

Property and agent search

For real estate and financial services firms, finding the right listing or person is the point of the site. We’ve built property search connected to outside databases (with virtual tours and video) and location finders that match visitors with the right agent by ZIP code.

“Excellent agency. I’ve been working with VOLTAGE for several years now and they have evolved along with my business. Responsive, detailed, knowledgeable, and they always make sure we are covered if things come up, even outside of business working hours.”

What happens next

No sales process. Just a real conversation.

You won’t be put into a sales process, talked at, or pitched with slide decks when you talk with us. You’re not getting handed off to a sales team and will be talking directly with our senior level staff and leadership. Our focus is on understanding your goals, culture, and making sure that we fit what you’re looking for. We are as good at working ourselves out of a deal as we are demonstrating that we are the right partner. We want mutual wins that start with a solid strategy that leads to ROI.

When you fill out our form to reach out to us, we’ll prepare for our initial conversation. We do our homework to prepare as we’ll ask a lot of questions, give you the opportunity to do the same, to get a sense for how we think, and to also fairly evaluate the fit of us for your team. No pressure, no obligations.

FAQ

Questions about websites.

Yes. We fix what’s broken, take over updates and maintenance, make incremental improvements, and develop designs your team or another partner created. We often start with an audit to review any documentation you have, understand the baseline, and advise you on risks and on the cost of incremental work versus building or rebuilding parts of your site.

No. We do websites with or without a search marketing engagement, but we’re always thinking about search. On full builds, we recommend an SEO migration process, where we review each existing URL (keep, merge, revise, or retire), map redirects, and check indexability before and after launch. The scale changes with each site, and on one recent rebuild that review took a sitemap of more than 9,000 URLs down to under 1,900, so search engines and AI tools can focus on the pages that matter. It helps protect the visibility you’ve earned and sets the site up if you add search marketing later.

WordPress is our focus, for large and small organizations, including B2B, B2C, nonprofits, lead generation, and e-commerce. Our team and partners can also work with other technology and platforms when a project’s requirements call for going outside of WordPress.

Yes to both. Once the project is paid in full, the site and the work we create for it belong to you, and you keep owner or administrator access to your website, analytics, and search accounts. We build in WordPress with reusable patterns and templates, so your team can add and update pages without calling an agency or developer for everyday edits. We train your editors at launch and can set up approval workflows when content needs review before it publishes.

For some businesses, AI and vibe coding tools are a good fit, and we’ll tell you when they are. We use AI ourselves where we can trust it, inside our own frameworks and testing, which helps us work efficiently and keep our pricing in check. Many organizations would rather not add website ownership to an in-house marketer’s or IT person’s plate, because it comes with accessibility, security, scalability, and ongoing maintenance to get right. That’s where a partner who knows web, WordPress, and AI can own the project and be your trusted resource, especially when a misstep would be costly.

Yes. We offer managed hosting and recommend it, to help keep your website investment secure, up to date, and online. We host sites with a premium managed WordPress host on our agency account, usually together with ongoing maintenance. The host handles the servers, infrastructure, and security, and our team handles WordPress updates, testing, and uptime monitoring. Learn more about our hosting.

Accessibility matters to us, and we build it into every full-build project. We design and develop with accessibility in mind, test our work against WCAG guidelines with developer testing tools, and work alongside your legal, compliance, and accessibility partners to meet the level your organization needs. We’re not lawyers and don’t certify compliance, which is why we partner closely with the people who do. Content added after launch and different testing tools can affect how a site tests, so we help your team keep accessibility in mind as the site grows.

We use a detailed estimation process, built on our team’s decades of experience and hundreds of projects, to create a statement of work. Your SOW lays out the project phases and specific line items, so you can see what’s included and what it costs. We typically use fixed pricing rather than billing by the hour, which gives us room to invest more time when a project needs it, without penalizing you for it.
