Managed WordPress Hosting

We host the sites we build and manage with a premium managed WordPress host, chosen for its speed, security, and support, on our agency account. Their team handles the servers, infrastructure, and security, and our team handles updates, testing, and uptime monitoring, so the team that knows your site is the team keeping it running. We recommend it to every website client as the best way we know to help protect your website investment. Hosting usually goes together with ongoing maintenance, so updates and fixes have a clear owner.

Let’s Talk
Two layers of care

Your site gets two layers of care.

We manage the hosting provider for you, so you get a dedicated host’s infrastructure and security plus a team that knows your site. The specifics of what’s included are spelled out in your statement of work.
Infrastructure and security

Our hosting partner runs the servers, cloud infrastructure, and security layer, and we have agency-level support with them when something needs attention.

WordPress updates

Our team handles the software layer, keeping WordPress core and plugins up to date.

Testing and QA

We test updates and maintain our code with QA, to help catch issues before they affect how your site works.

Uptime monitoring

We monitor uptime as a second layer beyond the hosting company, so we’re often aware of an issue, and working on it, before you are. We keep you informed in the uncommon case that something happens.

Backups

Regular backups that support restoring your site if something goes wrong.

Why host with us

One partner looks after your site after launch.

You don’t have to manage a hosting company yourself, and the team that built or manages your site is the one looking after it. An optimized hosting environment also helps keep the site fast, which helps both visitors and SEO.

Maintenance and requests

Changes to your site follow a simple, visible process.

Many hosting clients also work with us on ongoing updates, fixes, and improvements, as needed or through a monthly retainer. Retainer clients also meet with us regularly to talk through requests, and we use that time to suggest improvements. Here’s how a typical request works.
Send it our way

Email or call us, or add it to our project management system, where you can see every request and where it stands.

Get an estimate

You get our estimate before any work starts.

Review it on staging

We make and test the change on a staging site for you to review before it goes live.

Go live

Once you approve it, we deploy the change and check that it works on the live site.

What happens next

No sales process. Just a real conversation.

You won’t be put into a sales process, talked at, or pitched with slide decks when you talk with us. You’re not getting handed off to a sales team and will be talking directly with our senior level staff and leadership. Our focus is on understanding your goals, culture, and making sure that we fit what you’re looking for. We are as good at working ourselves out of a deal as we are demonstrating that we are the right partner. We want mutual wins that start with a solid strategy that leads to ROI.

When you fill out our form to reach out to us, we’ll prepare for our initial conversation. We do our homework to prepare as we’ll ask a lot of questions, give you the opportunity to do the same, to get a sense for how we think, and to also fairly evaluate the fit of us for your team. No pressure, no obligations.

FAQ

Questions about hosting.

No. You’re welcome to host the site with a provider of your choice or in your own IT infrastructure. We’ll document that up front, along with the level of support we’ll provide when it’s time to launch the site in your environment, and any ongoing ways we can support your setup if it’s helpful.

Yes. We host many sites we didn’t build when we take over their management and development. It’s a good starting point for companies that aren’t ready for a new site yet, are assessing their options, or need a new partner. We’ll help migrate the site to our managed hosting, and we often pair that with an audit or an initial project.

Yes. We can coordinate with you and your team, or, with access, manage as much of the migration as possible ourselves, with backups in place and testing to check that things are working properly.

Yes. We host groups of sites for organizations with several brands, divisions, or portfolio companies, and can bring them together under one agreement.

Yes. Your website and its content belong to you. If you ever decide to move to another host, we’ll help with the transition.

Our standard managed hosting plan is a straightforward annual fee that covers the hosting itself plus our team’s monitoring and updates throughout the year. We bill annually and up front, which lets us secure the best possible terms with our hosting partner and keep from having to raise prices. Sites with higher security or compliance requirements are scoped to fit.
