We may all be sick of hearing about, talking about, and prognosticating about AI in our daily lives. However, we’re just getting started and it is here to stay.

If you’re doing SEO, or are thinking about it, you might be wondering if you should continue. Or, maybe you’re feeling uneasy about what might be changing. The good news is that the roll-out of generative search in search results is not an overnight one.

I was interviewed recently on a podcast and asked about what I thought about how AI is changing things. My answer surprised the host as I predicted that we’ll see a lot of junk and bad information before it gets to a point where we have accurate answers, data, and the ability to have it truly live up the promise.

However, until it fully changes how SEO works, it is important to have one eye on the future while also staying focused on what still works well today if ROI matters to you. There’s a balance between burying your head in the sand ignoring AI versus chasing it as a shiny object and taking focus off of your SEO performance today.

We’re going to have more noise and distractions than ever. This is the time to buckle up and the quicker we embrace the rapid change that is happening and that the fact that change is going to be constant, the better.
